La
Paloma was developed by Cottonwood Properties in the
early 1980’s. Cottonwood
was the community developer of the 790 acre community
that set new standards for desert preservation
and was the first user of effluent water for golf courses
in southern Arizona.
Cottonwood developed the 487 room Westin La Paloma Resort
Hotel and the 27 hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf
course. The Mehls
owned the hotel until 1988. The Westin hotel and
the La Paloma Country Club have won numerous awards through
the
years, and are
still considered among the premier developments in
southern Arizona.
In addition, Cottonwood Properties, through its affiliate Cottonwood
Homes, built many of the homes in La Paloma. Cottonwood also
developed the La Paloma
Corporate Center, which
is still owned and managed by Cottonwood.
